It has been more than a year since President Hassan Rouhani was voted into office by Iranians, many of whom saw the election as a turning point in the country’s trajectory. World leaders agree that Rouhani has made progress in engaging with Western nations, specifically in nuclear negotiations. Others, however, argue that campaign promises to prioritize human rights and social freedoms at home remain unfulfilled.

Many say hardliners within Iran’s judiciary
